Myconian Kyma: Fresh, Modern and Hip hotel on Mykonos

by ElenaSergeeva

Myconian Kyma has brought a breath of fresh air to the Myconian hotel scene. This brand new 5-star luxury design hotel has been renovated to cater to the most discerning guests. Kyma in fact translates as “wave” which perfectly resembles this fresh, modern and hip hotel on Mykonos.

Myconian Kyma — the wave of Myconian chic

Myconian Kyma is a sublime combination of curves and architectural lines which are not too modern yet not overly traditional. Walking through the sliding glass doors of the hotel lobby we found ourselves in a cool Cycladic environment with a ‘pop’ of colour reflected in the fascinating decorative items.

First thing first, we were offered a champagne flute to toast to our welcome and after completing our check-in process we were escorted to our Nissos Junior Suite.

The hotel features a fine selection of stylish guestrooms and suites with contemporary design and modern amenities. Depending on the room category guests may enjoy blissful sea views from their verandas, some of which come with a Jacuzzi or a private pool.

We stayed at the Nissos Junior Suite which is a 40 m2 beautifully decorated accommodation, completed with refined white interiors and high-tech amenities.

This open plan suite features a comfortable King size bed with a separate sitting corner, a bar area and an outside terrace with exquisite sea views.  There is also a Nespresso machine and complimentary Wi-Fi.

As an in-room welcome gift we received a bottle of Muscat of Lemnos sweet wine and Greek loukoumi which is a chewy candy dusted with powdered sugar.

Gastronomy at Myconian Kyma

The dining scene at Myconian Kyma is inspired by the flavors of the Mediterranean. All the dishes are prepared using fresh and locally sourced ingredients. During the day guests may lounge around the main pool area and enjoy light snacks, coffees and drinks served at George’s bar.

In the evening the haute cuisine is served at the Kalypso fine dining Restaurant which features both an indoor and outdoor dining area with inviting pool views.

We had a wonderful meal experience and tried some refreshing dishes such as the King Crab salad served with finocchio, orange and red radish, scented with soy, ginger and sesame seed oil.

If you are fond of scallops then you will love the sautéed scallops topped with crispy prosciutto and arugula pesto. For main course I ordered the King Crab linguine prepared with sea urchin and served in a basil scented saffron cream.

Marissa had the sautéed Sea Bass with saffron king crab risotto. Dessert was equally heavenly, we had the perfect banoffee pie.

In the morning the Kalypso restaurant turns into a Breakfast area where guests may enjoy a buffet breakfast by the pool or indoors. There is a generous variety of cold cuts, eggs, cheeses, cereals, freshly baked goods, fresh fruits  and homemade marmalades.

Location

Set on top of the famous Myconian hill, Myconian Kyma offers majestic views of the Aegean Sea and the renowned Windmills of Mykonos. Its prime location just a few minutes from the Mykonos Town makes it a perfect holiday retreat for anyone who is looking to combine relaxation with a bustling nightlife.

The hotel features an infinity pool which spans on two levels overlooking the Aegean Sea. For those who wish to relax and unwind may do so at the Satori Thalasso Spa featuring five therapeutic pools and a sauna.
